Questions we can answer by contacting the Property Description Office
1. What is the Parcel Identification Number(s) (PINs)
2. What town, range, section & ¼ ¼ does parcel lie in? 
3. What side of the road is the property on? How far is it from a certain intersection?
4. What is the assessed value of a property? 
5. What is the lot size or acreage?
6. What is the legal description? 
7. Who owns the property?
8. Is there a survey of the property and how do I get a copy?
9. Can I get a copy of the tax map? 
10. Who is the assessor? 
11. What is the date of the latest sales, the sales price and recording information? 
12. Why am I getting the tax bill (or assessment notice) when I have sold the property?
13. Why am I getting the tax bill (or assessment notice) when I only purchased a portion of the property? 
14. How do I split taxes on a parcel that has been split? Who is responsible for the taxes? 
15. Why does it say "DEED IN ERROR" on my tax bill (or assessment notice)? 
16. What is the aggregate ratio for that municipality?
17. What is the Estimated Fair Market Value? 
18. What was the transfer fee and how do I calculate the sales price from that? 
19. What school district is a property in? 
20. Do we have sales information and in what form?
21. Can you give me the new parcel number (have the old number)? 
22. Can you change my mailing address? 
23. How do I change my name on the tax bill (i.e. married name) 
24. Have new PIN's been assigned to a new survey yet and can I get that information? 
25. What are your office hours?

 

Questions we cannot answer and who to contact:
1. What is the age of the house? Answer: Contact the local assessor.
2. What is the size of the house? Answer: contact the local assessor.
3. Is the property in a floodplain? Answer: contact Planning and Development. 
4. Can you fax us a copy of the map? Answer: No!! We do not fax copies of maps. If a copy is requested, we will mail. Copies are at a cost of $3.00 + postage. 
5. Where can I get a plat book? Answer: County Clerk's Office. 
6. What is the zoning? Answer: In townships, contact Planning And Development. In cities and villages, contact the local clerk. 
7. Can I get a copy of a deed? Answer: At the Register of Deeds Office.
8. Are there any easements? Answer: Search at the Register of Deeds Office
9. What are the taxes and are they paid? Answer: Contact the Treasurer's Office.
