Offender
Accountability Group
When victims choose not
to participate in a Victim-Offender Conference, the juvenile
offender(s) is referred to the Offender Accountability
Group. During the group, the juvenile offenders write
letters(s) of apology to the crime victims and their
communities. In the letter, the juvenile offender
accurately describes the behavior and accepts full
responsibility for their actions. The focus of this
group is to repair the harm to the victim, provide a process
for making amends, and provide a process for greater
understanding of how the incident affected others. It
offers a meaningful way for the juveniles to take
responsibility for their actions. The Offender
Accountability Group encourages apology and expressions of
remorse. |
