Please leave firewood (wood/kindling/pallets, etc.) at home
as you will no longer be allowed to bring firewood into the Dodge County Parks.
EXCEPTION: Firewood ban is relaxed from
OCTOBER 1ST through APRIL 30TH
(Outside firewood is allowed to be brought in during these dates).
The threat of EAB contamination is reduced and
the availability of staff to provide firewood is limited during this time.
Dodge County is taking an active approach to the impending invasion of the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) to Wisconsin and Dodge County. EAB has already killed 20 million ash trees in southeast Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Ontario, Canada and its affects are being seen as it moves through southern Wisconsin. Firewood is a major source of new infestations, not only from EAB, but other invasive pests as well, which place the tree resources of the parks and Dodge County communities at risk.
Park staff will work diligently to assure an ample supply of firewood is available for purchase ($5/bundle -~8 pieces in a bundle) in the parks during the season. We apologize for the inconvenience this rule may cause for you, but it is necessary in order to provide protection of the Dodge County Parks’ tree resources so valued by you and other park visitors. When you purchase firewood at the park, please burn it all or leave it at the park.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping to stop the spread of EAB and protecting our parks.
