 The Dodge County Corporation Counsel Office represents the interests of the public in the following types of cases:

Procedures for Mental Commitments-Chapter 51.20

All prospective petitions are screened by the Mental Health Division of the Dodge County Human Services and Health Department. Please call 920-386-3500 for screening prior to the filing of the petition.

Petitions must be signed by three adults, at least one of whom has personal knowledge of the conduct of the individual to be committed. Petitioners must be willing to personally testify at a minimum of two court hearings and to come to the Corporation Counsel's office to sign the petition before a notary.

Procedures for Alcohol Commitments-Chapter 51.45

Prospective alcohol petitions are prescreened by Mental Health Division of the Dodge County Human Services and Health Department. Please call 920-386-3500 for screening prior to the filing of the petition.

Petitions must be signed by three adults, at least one of whom has personal knowledge of the conduct of the individual to be committed. Petitioners must be willing to personally testify at a minimum of two court hearings and to come to the Corporation Counsel's office to sign the petition before a notary.

NOTE: Wisconsin Statutes give the Corporation Counsel's office the discretion to determine if a petition will be filed. Making an appointment does not guarantee the filing of a petition.
