Juneau Highway Facility
Improvements and Expansion

The Dodge County Highway Commission has recently
started designing a Juneau Highway Facility improvement and
expansion project.
The existing vehicle maintenance and administration building built
in 1975 will remain. However, this structure will gain a 7,350 sq.
ft. addition and several improvements, bringing it into compliance
with the current standards.
In addition to these improvements, a new 65,000 sq. ft. vehicle
storage facility will be constructed on the present site in Juneau.
The current facility has always been lacking indoor vehicle storage.
Most of the equipment is stored off site and rotated with the
seasons or subject to deterioration caused by the elements in the
outside storage yard. This building will provide protection of the
snow plowing and hauling and excavating
equipment, extending its
useful life and minimizing the maintenance costs of this fleet.
The
new building will also accommodate a sign fabrication shop, sign
storage area, indoor barricade storage, wood shop, and employee
area.
Other improvements included with this project include new fuel
storage and dispensing equipment at a new location on this site and
new sand and salt storage facilities.
The Highway Commission has contracted with Angus Young Associates,
Inc.of Janesville as the architectural firm designing all phases of
the project.
Maas Brothers Construction Co., Inc. of Watertown has been hired as
the construction manager providing project oversight and scheduling.
Sealed bids will be received on May 5, 2010, for the first phase of
this project. Phase I is the construction of new fueling facilities
and new sand and salt storage structures.
The second phase involves the addition and renovation of the
existing building as well as the construction of the new vehicle
storage building. Bidding for this phase is scheduled for mid-June
2010.
These projects will be completed in September of 2011.
The Dodge County Highway Commission is grateful to be able to bring
these improvements to the Juneau facility, the main Highway facility
in the County. This investment will serve the residents for many
years into the future.
