The Juvenile Justice Unit operates under the direction of the Wisconsin State Statute 938 (Juvenile Justice Code) and deals with children who are delinquent, truant and uncontrollable.  The legislative intent of the Code is to promote a Juvenile Justice System capable of dealing with the problems of juvenile delinquency, a system which protects the community, imposes accountability for violations of law and equips juvenile offenders with competencies to live responsibly and productively.

The Juvenile Justice Unit consists of three juvenile intake workers, all of whom are state licensed social workers, whose responsibilities include reviewing all law enforcement and truancy referrals, meets with the juvenile and his or her parents and makes recommendations to the District Attorney and court.  Additionally, the unit has four ongoing delinquency social workers who are also State licensed social workers, whose responsibilities include following cases for the term of the court supervision, revising orders when necessary, placing children if the need arises, sanctioning juveniles when they violate the terms of their orders, and providing an array of other services necessary in juvenile court orders.
