The Economic Support (ES) / W-2 Unit serves Dodge County residents who are faced with an economic setback or have not yet reached self-sufficiency. 

 

Office hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.    Appointments can be scheduled outside of normal office hours upon request. 

 

Spanish speaking interpreters are available on site. Interpreters for other languages can be made available upon request.

Children First (external website): Non custodial parents are court ordered to Economic Support to assist them in seeking and obtaining employment.  They must participate in this program for 16 weeks or until they have paid 3 consecutive months of child support. (back to top)

 

Food Share (formerly known as Food Stamps) (external website):  Food Share can be used to pay for food in order to make it easier for persons to have a healthy adequate diet.  Some clients may be referred to the Food Share Employment and Training Program for assistance in seeking and obtaining employment. Food Share Employment & Training (FSET) (external website):   Adult Food Share applicants and recipients are required to "register for work."   To maintain eligibility for Food Share, FSET participants must accept a suitable job if offered. Participants must fulfill any work, employment search, or training requirements established by W-2 Administrative Agencies or FSET Agencies. (back to top)

 

General Assistance:  General Assistance is targeted to individuals who are unable to work, are applying for Supplemental Social Security Income (SSI) and are not eligible for any other type of assistance.  He/she must have been a county resident for at least 60 consecutive days before applying, may not receive benefits or services for more than six months in any twelve-month period and must sign an agreement to repay the Department for all relief benefits. Job Access Loans (JAL) (external website):   JAL’s are short-term loans designed to meet expenses related to obtaining or maintaining employment. JAL’s are designed for an individual needing assistance because of a discrete financial crisis that cannot be resolved with personal resources and other funding sources are not available or have been exhausted. This crisis, if unresolved, could develop into a long-term problem in which the individual may become dependent upon a W-2 employment position. There is no entitlement to a JAL. The W-2 agency has sole discretion in determining and authorizing JAL’s. (back to top)

 

Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) (external website):  May assist in paying heating bills by making a one-time payment to the fuel supplier for each heating season (October 1 through May 15) for a portion of the heating bills. (back to top)

 

Medicaid (external website): In order to be eligible for Medical Assistance an individual must belong to one of the following groups:

  1. Under age 19

  2. Over age 65

  3. Disabled as defined by Social Security.

  4. Part of a family where one or both parents are either unemployed or incapacitated,

  5. Part of a family where only one parent is living in the home as a result of divorce, separation, and  unmarried parenthood.

  6. Be a pregnant woman.

  7. Be uninsured and low income.

W-2 Case Management Only (CMO):  Case management is an important part of the partnership between the Financial Employment Planner and the participant to reach their common goal of self- sufficiency for the family.  Because those who have landed their first job may need supportive services to make ends meet, the case management does not end when a participant finds a job. W-2 Child Care (external website): Assistance for childcare costs for those who are working, attending high school or looking for work.  Single parent households will be referred to the Child Support Agency. (back to top)

 

W-2 Payment Program (external website):    W-2 is a work program designed to help a participant find and keep a job in order to meet financial responsibilities.  Total lifetime participation is limited to 60 months. Each eligible person will have to have regular contact with a Financial Employment Planner who will help to determine the level of work ability and to develop a plan to work toward self-sufficiency.
